Four decades of experience across Wall Street, real estate, and private markets
Mitch Flax, CAIA
Founder & Chief Investment Officer
Mitch founded Net Equity Capital in 2020 to bring institutional-quality alternative investments to accredited investors, RIAs, and family offices. He oversees all research and portfolio construction, applying the due diligence framework he developed as a CAIA charterholder to identify new sources of alpha.
Since founding the firm, Mitch has built a track record across multiple real estate strategies on a deal-by-deal basis, including multifamily, land banking, student housing, and industrial, with many investments going full cycle. His approach combines quantitative analysis with hands-on operational insight from years as an active investor and syndicator.
Prior to Net Equity Capital, Mitch spent eight years as Managing Director at MassMutual in institutional retirement sales, covering both defined contribution and defined benefit plans. His earlier career includes wealth management roles at Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo Advisors, and Vice President at JW Seligman, where he helped launch two closed-end real estate funds with JLL.
A natural educator and serial connector, Mitch serves as Texas Regional Chapter Head for the CAIA Association and is a grader for CAIA exams. He also mentors founders through the Techstars ecosystem and is an LP at Everywhere Ventures.
Outside the office, Mitch is a proud girl dad whose favorite part of the day is walking with his daughter Vivian and their boxer Champ. He’s always trying to impress his wife Stephie with something new in the kitchen, and lately, he’s been teaching himself Python.
Kent S. Petty
Managing Partner & Head of Investor Relations
Kent Petty oversees investor relations, fundraising, and business development at Net Equity Capital. He has built his career on relationships with advisors, institutions, and family offices, and brings a long track record of raising capital across real estate and alternative investments.
Most recently, Kent served as Director of Investor Relations at Ashton Gray, leading capital formation across the firm’s real estate offerings. Before that, as VP of Institutional Capital Markets at Seneca Real Estate Group, he worked directly alongside the firm’s president on the third-party management and leasing of investment-grade real estate, from acquisition through disposition. During his tenure the platform grew from one million to seven million managed square feet before its exit.
Earlier in his career, Kent spent more than fifteen years in institutional sales and marketing, representing firms including SunAmerica Asset Management, AllianceBernstein, J.P. Morgan, Manulife John Hancock, and Neuberger Berman. That work carried him across every channel of distribution in the Southwest, from family offices and financial planners to RIAs and wirehouses, and it shaped the relationship-first approach he still brings to capital raising today.
Kent also serves on several advisory boards, with hands-on experience in corporate restructuring and acquisition financing across the energy, real estate, and technology sectors, including early-stage and intellectual property ventures.
A Texas A&M economics graduate and four-year football letterman, Kent went on to earn his MBA from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business. He founded Aggie Athletes Involved and stays active in athletics and charitable work across Dallas.
